ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the transition work that was continued from June to make smooth transitions from, and into, Year One. It aims to look at the progress that the children have made, with the information that is available. In an ideal world, transition would be an ongoing process. If successful, it would mean that the children would be totally familiar with their new class environment, staff and way of working. The chapter explains how the staff felt that the environment had worked, which areas need changing and what needs to be done before September. The outdoor environment has worked exceptionally well. Even on the very last day of term, the children were outside enjoying the environment, fully engaged in purposeful play. However, the children in Year One have had a year in which they have grown in independence, confidence and resilience.
