ABSTRACT

The concept of objectivity has been interpreted in different ways in the literature. There have been theorists who have even challenged the value of objectivity in social sciences. For this reason, in what follows I have to deal with three problems. I have to clarify my understanding of objectivity, I have to answer the question of whether objectivity should be regarded as an absolute norm in historiography, and I have to consider whether the norm, if accepted, could be observed at all, and if so, to what extent.
