ABSTRACT

The speech-act theory of organization suggests that the contents of social facts, that is their intentionality—what they are for—and their relationality—which relations between relevant people that should implement defined intentions, are constituted linguistically in agreements. Speech-act theory of organization suggests the importance of studying in-time-reasoning fields, called transverse analysis. The creation of the mandated sales organizations is crucially about the struggle between, the acceptance and the spread of specific narratives and the undermining of other alternative narratives to how fisheries and fish sales are and can be organized. Fishing technology improved globally and in Norway in the 20th century. Privatization in Hersoug's terms means that the government-assigned right to draw on the resources has increasingly become a stable, continuous right of owners of fisheries capital and, most recently, in such a way that the owners can transform the monetary value of assigned fish quantum to capital invested or consumed outside the commons and beyond the activities of the fisheries sector.
