ABSTRACT

Norwegian fisheries between being a motor of local community development and an industry in global markets. How the expanding community project was gradually integrated and dismantled/changed through public and private organizing of industrial fisheries in global markets. The narratives of the fishermen and the Fishermen’s Organization over time, against the narratives of fish traders, production owners/workers and fisheries authorities. 1

Given the interest in how speech acting organizes, how speech acting of autonomous persons implying commitments under certain conditions constitutes new organizations or organization units, I here raise questions about the development trajectory of Norwegian fisheries: how new organizations in fisheries were created, through struggles between the narratives, and how some were sustained and others perhaps taken apart or destructed, questions that later will be attempted answered.
