ABSTRACT

Parametric statistics differ in several ways from the nonparametric statistics reported in Chapter 6. Common parametric analyses—t tests, analysis of variance, and regression, among others—have assumptions such as a quantitative dependent variable measured in a way that at least approximates interval level. These tests also have different assumptions regarding distributions of scores within the population of interest. For these reasons, what needs to be included in the results section will differ to some degree from what is reported for nonparametric statistics.
