Risk management – setting the scene

This chapter deals, in an informal way, with what is meant by risk management and how the terms ‘hazard’, ‘hazardous event’, ‘risk’ and ‘loss’ are used in the context of risk management. There is also a brief consideration of the reasons why managing risk is important.
