ABSTRACT

On the whole, the First World War is treated by the authors of Junior High school textbooks with greater impartiality than they are able to muster in describing the Revolution or the War of 1812. On the whole they stand acquitted of any serious nationalistic bias in discussing Anglo-American relations, although all are guilty of some ‘bias by omission5 and all would benefit by more extended treatments, more exact knowledge o f events, and the inclusion of comparative statistics on casualties and expenditures of the Allies.
