ABSTRACT
Our great leader Chairman Mao has long maintained that the period of schooling should be shortened. Since the whole country was liberated, he has issued a number of extremely important instructions on transforming the old educational system. For example, he said in 1966: "The period of schooling should be shortened, education should be revolutionized; the domination of our schools by bourgeois intellectuals should by no means be allowed to continue."
