ABSTRACT

WHEN we enter into the details of National Finance we require the use of Statistics, which may be defined as organised figures. The first figures which we need in studying the financial position of an individual, a company, a corporation, or a Government, are an account of Income and Expenditure, and a statement of Assets and Liabilities. Our national accounts show the amounts received and paid by Government, and give some information as to its assets and liabilities. But as we shall see this is a good deal short of what is wanted to comply with the requirements of a properly constructed balance-sheet.
