ABSTRACT

Parents and teachers ideally inspire and guide children to develop into individuals who take responsibility for themselves and others. When thinking about responsibility as a virtue, especially in relation to risk, safety and protection. The need to reflect ethically on such well-intended technologies arises from the notion of responsibility as a virtue and how important it is to encourage children to develop into responsible adults. Protection entails control and potential infringements of children's rights, autonomy and sense of responsibility. The notion of autonomy, traditionally meaning self-governance or self-determination, is central to many traditional theories in ethics and political theory and closely linked to agency and responsibility. The argument that responsibility is redistributed by the V-chip can be interpreted as an argument concerning tasks and task responsibility. The concept of responsibility as a virtue is highly relevant in the context of parenting.
