ABSTRACT

The application of neuroscience extends over a wide area. This area includes all those disciplines dealing with the brain, the physical substratum of the mind. Anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, neurology, endocrinology and neuropsychology are all involved in the study of the central and peripheral nervous system. Areview of all the methodologies employed and of the current state of knowledge in this field strays well beyond the objectives set at the beginning of this book. I shall therefore not even make such an attempt but shall limit myself to a skeletal outline.
