ABSTRACT
Chapter 4 explores race and ethnicity as a marker of family diversity. Race and ethnicity remains a central framework through which to analyze racial and ethnic families. The chapter begins by looking at vocabulary that describes racial and ethnic minority families. It then explores the characteristics of White, Native, African, Hispanic, and Asian American families. Taking diversity and global approaches, the chapter discusses interracial and transnational families.
