ABSTRACT
Courtship and dating are two methods to begin a relationship. This chapter examines two types of courtship systems. It explores traditional and modern dating as well as contemporary dating services. We also look at the issue of dating violence and explore strategies for avoiding it. The chapter further discusses rules and theories of mate selection. From diversity and global perspectives, the chapter delves into gender differences in the mate selection process and provides a look at mate selection across countries.
