ABSTRACT
This chapter focuses on marriage. We will discuss various factors related to marriage, such as marriage rates and what makes marriages successful. We’ll also explore different forms of wedding ceremonies, requirements of marriage, as well as marital relationships throughout the life cycle. As we’ll see, marital adjustment and marital satisfaction are contributors to marital quality in young adulthood, parenthood, middle adulthood, and old adulthood. From a diversity perspective, we’ll examine the wedding customs of other cultures as well as collective marriage.
