ABSTRACT

Most mentoring programmes begin with enthusiasm and a good deal of excitement both for the participants and the business at setup. Maternity or parental mentoring may be just one recommendation of many from the research. The NHS Leadership Academy's new Return to Work Mentoring programme aims to support people transitioning back into the workplace following an extended period of time away. There were fundamental changes taking place, including the strategic move away from Strategic Health Authorities (SHAs). Within the NHS, there's a major focus on talent management, supporting organisations at national and regional levels with building robust talent and succession planning processes. To secure funding, the chapter looks at evidence from current research, business articles and practitioner case studies. Evidence-based decision making is in the nature of the industry that is to gauge value for money with any request for NHS expenditur.
