ABSTRACT

The preparation of mentors and mentees is hugely important for the success of programme. Hopefully, the topics and activities have provided some useful suggestions to make mentee and mentor workshops interesting and engaging. The first conversation to contract the relationship is an important one for mentor and mentee. It's about making connections, building early rapport and having some idea of what might be on the mentee's early agenda. Faced with a plethora of information, this activity brings the learning together from the workshop as a helpful one-page summary. It encourages mentors to firm up understanding of the different stages of the journey framework and within each stage, what they may want to do and how they might want to approach the mentoring support. A helpful way to engage the mentees in the spirit of the workshop is to have them share hopes and expectations for the future, by building a vision of how they hope life will be for them as working parents.
