ABSTRACT

This chapter provides an overview of the utilization of instructional technology in foreign language education and discusses the relationship between instructional technology integration and teacher beliefs. Summaries are provided about the shifts in educational policies, theoretical inquiries, and findings from empirical studies to provide a broader understanding as to what learning benefits modern technology may bring to educational scenes. By reflecting on their own motivations and assumptions in light of these benefits, teachers may better match their needs and objectives with available technologies and maximize their positive impacts on learning.
