ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how technology may enhance our instructional design and help learners achieve higher oral proficiency. Tools, techniques, and examples of master Chinese teachers’ designs are included to demonstrate the large variety of learning tasks and projects that are made possible by modern technology, addressing different needs of learners at different levels of proficiency. There are three focused categories of technologies in this chapter: 1) technologies that help teachers collect and create audio or audiovisual materials, 2) technologies that provide venues and means for various oral communication tasks, and 3) technologies that help learners acquire or improve Chinese pronunciation and intonation.
