ABSTRACT

I wanted Mr Jack to go to Kelmscott with the drawings and specifi cation about the end of this next week, but I hardly think that possible now.

Thinking of one thing and another which have come on me in the way, mostly, of long winding up of accts of 2 of my last works, and being old & feeble, have delayed me, and small items will keep coming in, so that I am pretty well tired each day by 3. oc, & then there are business letters to write, and excuses to make, and these excuses you will be saying are the accusation against me. I cannot say, like Mr Joe Chamberlain, ‘I don’t care’, because I do. Beg your innocent pardon for this unaccustomed grumbling, but it is so.
