My dear fellows. Your faint print of the original design would answer the purpose very well, but perhaps a little stronger would save some time in going over it with pencil before colouring – and it should be mounted, as the colouring otherwise would shrink & cockle it – but I’m, as you see, troublesome.1 The original drawing itself should be sent to me, for use when Cn Smith arrives at parcel gilding & enamelling time, and as the colouring on it of the fi elds of shield was pretty good – it w’d jog my faded memory of with it.
