ABSTRACT
Rude Mechs is a theatre group out of Austin, TX led by five co-artistic directors. They're known as devisers—artists who don't start with a script but create plays through discussion and experimentation in rehearsal. A recent show I saw contained raucous dance numbers, a heartbreaking torch song on materialism, and moments where actors confessed actual crimes they had committed.
