ABSTRACT
Just as there are offshore financial centers for products denominated in other currencies, however, there can be plenty of offshore RMB business centers, both inside and outside China. The past few years have seen a flourishing of offshore RMB centers around the world. Further, the Chinese government has encouraged the development of offshore RMB centers within the Mainland, underscored by the establishment of the Shanghai Free Trade Zone to facilitate offshore finance.
