ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses a study that uses literature review methodology should interrogate the findings from the review, and integrate these with the more general literature related to the subject. The discussion section of a literature review concerning the perceived effect of having a long-term neurological condition on young people's employment might begin by exploring the effect that the young person's long-term condition had on their employment aspirations. This could commence with a statement to the effect that the review of the literature showed consistent evidence that a young person's long-term condition affected their career aspirations. This could be followed by a discussion of this finding in the context of other relevant literature in the area, including evidence that fell outside the inclusion criteria, such as case reports, expert opinion or literature from outside the UK. After discussing this general point, particular ways in which young people's aspirations were affected could be highlighted, with each one discussed in detail.
