ABSTRACT
Chapter 3 raises questions about truth and objectivity and the relation that these concepts bear on both forming and reporting beliefs. These are issues that underlie the third Fundamental Canon: “Issue public statements only in an objective and truthful manner.” This chapter includes readings and discussion of moral issues relating to critical thinking, the fallacies of risk, scientific integrity and public perception, and the obligation to explain well.
