ABSTRACT
This chapter completes the Western Paper case study by considering external factors. It introduces the ideas of supplier development which is embraced very strongly by Japanese businesses and benchmarking which is now widely used both internally and externally. Chapter 14 introduced ISO 9001:2015 as the basis of a quality management system standard and chapter 19 introduced a contemporary approach to the QMS; this chapter will reflect a more conventional approach.
