ABSTRACT
On the way cycling here tonight I stopped next to a woman at the traffic lights and I said ‘Hello’. I was wearing a helmet and dark glasses. ‘It’s a lovely sunny day today’. She sort of peered at me and said ‘I can’t recognise you, you’re in disguise’ and I said ‘Oh no, we’ve never met before’. In the twenty years I’ve been cycling I always speak to other cyclists; and it’s something that car drivers can’t do, the only way they tend to communicate is through road rage.
