ABSTRACT
We heard Mrs Hughes lilt this dandling song on several different occasions. It always proved marvellously effective when any of her infant grandchildren (or great-grandchildren) needed pacifying. The chorus is from ‘The Galloping Major’, a popular music-hall song written and composed by Fred W. Leigh and George Bastow between 1900 and 1910.
