ABSTRACT

In the previous chapter we discussed various methods that can be used to engage business leaders and senior managers to help sustainably improve an organisation's safety performance and culture. One thing that is certain is that once this group of people have become ‘switched on’ to it, they will push the wave through the organisation. This wave will invariably ‘hit’ their direct reports first, but so does everything else on their agenda whether it is sales, working capital, margin, achieving customer service level agreements or employee retention rates. However, the pressure does not stop there. They also get it from their team and others as well.
