ABSTRACT
If you will be traveling with the show, find an opportunity to gather information about the new
theatre space. The exact leadership role the SM will take for the move will be different at every
theatre, but after clarifying your responsibility, ask your production team what is known so
far. If the second run is a preplanned co-production with a fellow theatre company, many of
these details may have been discussed during the design process. If there are missing details
(and there inevitably will be), find out if there is someone you can contact directly at the new
venue, or if you should submit questions to be posed on your behalf. When given the chance
to make contact yourself, the best sources of information, once again, will be speaking with
the production manager or technical director and visiting the venue if possible.
