ABSTRACT

In Chapters 5-11 we highlight a select group of African American academicians and/ or practitioners who we identify as Trailblazers for their roles in advancing the profession of public administration as a whole and in championing the inclusion of African Americans in particular. Much of the work of these Trailblazers in supporting the notion of inclusivity began in the late 1960s and early 1970s concurrent with efforts to implement nondiscrimination policies in public employment.
