ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book explores how Bronfenbrenner's bioecological model of human development provides a focus on the nested layers of influence which impact children's learning and development. It explains how Bronfenbrenner's model positions the child at the centre of his/her learning and development in early years practice. The book focuses on the importance of creating a welcoming learning environment where children encounter invitations to learn in a space that not only provides them with a sense of security and belonging but also offers them a space with dynamic and stimulating opportunities to explore and discover new experiences and concepts. It considers how best to provide a nurturing learning experience for young children. The book also explores the concept of 'rich learning environments' through a focus on the process, person, context and time (PPCT) factors that may influence and shape their development.
