ABSTRACT
Chapter 10 depicts the influence that industrialization in East Asia had on the global cotton trade. During the 1930s, Volkart’s involvement in the American cotton sector helped to make it one of the leading companies to export cotton to China and Japan, which shows the extent to which the cotton trade had achieved global dimensions during this period.
