ABSTRACT
Chapter 7 deals with the working conditions in colonial India. The opportunity to work in an exotic country was an important motive for many employees to take on a position with a trading firm abroad. The colonial situation led to various problems, however, such as difficulties relating to the ethnic mix of the workforce.
