This chapter presents the main practices and methods applied by companies to treat demand. They demand the contribution by the managers of the marketing and sales department, as well as those from the logistics and supply chain management department in their entirety. Practices such as just-in-time, vendor-managed inventory, efficient consumer response, collaborative planning forecasting and replenishment, lean thinking, etc. are typical approaches for keeping organizations as competitive as today's market demands. Practices such as just-in-time, vendor-managed inventory, efficient consumer response, collaborative planning forecasting and replenishment, lean thinking, etc. are typical approaches for keeping organizations as competitive as today's market demands. The just-in-time (JIT) philosophy expresses the opposite philosophy from just-in-case.
