ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the relationship between guidelines/standards and research is critical to the creation of appropriate environments. Researchers who are aware of the content of these documents should be encouraged to conduct studies that substantiate them. Guidelines and standards for behavioral health design help to inform the planning, programming, and design process. The purpose of the organization is to support the activities of organizations that plan and manage health infrastructure. The Canadian Standards Association guidelines address inpatient and outpatient facilities including psychiatric intensive care and forensic care. The Australasian Health Infrastructure Alliance, as the Health Capital Asset Managers' Consortium of Australia and New Zealand, was founded in 2004 and incorporates representatives from all health jurisdictions in Australia and New Zealand. The mission of the Military Health Services System is to manage the health of service personnel so that they can carry out their missions and be supported with healthcare during time of war.
