ABSTRACT
Over recent years there has been an increasing focus on raising standards in schools and, as a result, teaching assistants (TAs) need to be more aware and informed about their role in promoting the learning and progress of pupils. This doesn't mean moving away from a more nurturing role, but to be aware that the role now requires more knowledge and understanding of how children and young people learn and how best to give support to the learning process.
