ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts covered in the preceding chapters of second part of this book. The book focuses on writing in news style and on the various types of news releases and other journalistic pieces that public relations writers might prepare. Some of these are associated with established media, others with emerging new media. The book provides a rich repertoire of writing formats and venues that can help any organization interact with its publics and present its strategic messages. It explains the legal concepts of defamation and privacy, and outlines the contents of a video news release. The book develops a social media release and an inclusive release for print, broadcast and social media. It also explains how to prepare and write advocacy pieces such as position statements, letters to the editor, op-ed commentaries and guest editorials, issue advisories, proclamations and petitions.
