ABSTRACT

This chapter explains how to write an effective newsletter article and an effective headline for a newsletter or magazine article. It explores the purpose and importance of corporate reports. Members, external publics, special-interest publics, subscribers, consumers and cause-related readers are some categories of newsletters focused on various audiences. Headlines are both an information component and a design element of newsletters and magazines, and an effective writer will consider both of these aspects. The chapter shows an understanding of laws related to copyright and trademark. It then outlines how to edit and proofread documents carefully and effectively. The chapter presents some guidelines to follow carefully while copy-editing an organizational publication such as a newsletter or an annual report. An annual report is a formal corporate progress report issued by a company or other type of organization. The person who creates an artistic work can claim copyright in one of two ways: copyright notice and copyright registration.
