ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at arranging a meeting, going to a restaurant, expressing whether something suits particular person, the verbs quedar, acabar, parecer and traer, prepositional pronouns, exclamations, expressing likes and dislikes, direct pronouns, que/cual. It talks about Arranging a meeting using quedar. The verb quedar has various meanings but in the dialogue means to meet, the idea of arranging to meet as well. The verb parecer that appears in the dialogue is used like the verb gustar. The endings of the verb change according to the number, i.e. singular and plural, of the object/person. It is noted that the negative adverb no goes before the indirect object. Indirect objects are those objects that get the benefit of the action. Direct pronouns are so called because they replace nouns that are the direct object of verb. Spanish direct pronouns differ from indirect ones in the third person. They are lo for masculine things and people, and la/las for feminine ones.
