ABSTRACT

This chapter explains how to greet people and how to introduce yourself in Korean language. It discusses how to write Korean names where the surname is written before the given name in Korean. The chapter proposes the model dialogue that demonstrates the authentic communicative exchanges featured in Colloquial Korean and is accompanied by Romanization and English translation. It describes the exercise items that include both structural drills and communicative tasks where the Structural drills provide guided questions that reinforce the functions and grammar point. The chapter also presents communicative tasks that encourage the learner to produce more creative answers. It focuses on the exercises to check the comprehension of the vocabulary, grammar points, and functions with a review of unit content and an application of acquired knowledge from the model dialogue. It then deals with the cultural point that presents up-to-date cultural information relevant to the unit content and useful tips for visitors in the Republic of Korea.
