ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the use of honorific marker that is attached to the base of a verb or an adjective to express the respect or esteem for a certain person. It talks about the honorific sentence that is frequently used to a person who is older than the speaker, higher than the speaker in terms of social status or in terms of social relationships. The chapter talks about the grammar points in a systematic and manageable way to understand the structure of Korean. It describes the model dialogue that demonstrates the authentic communicative exchanges among the characters in Colloquial Korean which is accompanied by Romanization and English translation. This chapter focuses on the exercises to check the comprehension of the vocabulary, grammar points. It deals with the exercise items that include both structural drills and communicative tasks where the structural drills provide guided questions and communicative tasks encourage the learners to produce more creative answers.
