ABSTRACT
This chapter presents conversations in the Mandarin Chinese language based on common daily situations with their English translations. English translation enables to follow Chinese more closely. It also presents few vocabularies in the Mandarin Chinese language with their English meanings. The chapter delivers various speech patterns and grammar notes with appropriate English examples. Grammar part explains about Marked co-ordination, subordinating marker (K), Contractions, Tail-end questions, Reduplication, Voice. Marked co-ordination appears only as a marker of co-ordination, but its chief function is coverb (CV). Coverbs assist the main verb of the predicate in the same way as prepositions do in English. Contractions facility extends to main verbs of two syllables. Tail-end questions in English is common, its enough to put forward a proposal and seek a reaction by adding an question of concern. In Chinese the practice is more common, being less restricted as to tone of voice. Exercises attached gives confidence in building up longer sentences in Chinese.
