ABSTRACT

This chapter explains how to describe ones physical features, using the X wa Y ga + adjective structure in Japanese language. It discusses comparative and superlative expressions, and the terms for body parts and colours in Japanese language. The chapter offers the course content to anyone who wishes to acquire the ability to speak, understand, read and write basic Japanese for daily use. It includes the realistic and entertaining dialogues covering a broad variety of scenarios, and useful vocabulary lists and grammar points. The grammar explanation is followed by an extensive range of focused and stimulating exercises. The chapter uses transliterated Japanese so that a reader can read and understand Japanese from the beginning. At the same time, he/she will be gradually introduced to the scripts (hiragana, katakana and kanji) and the use of Japanese scripts will increase as he/she studies further to encourage him/her to decode them.
