ABSTRACT

This chapter explains how to tell time with the 24-hour clock is used more and more in French, especially when giving times of trains, flights, buses or programmes foe the French learners. It also explains the usage of adjectives and asking questions with est-ce que. In French, the adjective will agree in gender and number with the noun it is used with. Usually this means that, unless it already ends with an -e in its masculine form, the adjective will end with an -e if it is used with a feminine noun. The normal position for adjectives in French is after the noun. The chapter discusses savoir, pouvoir, vouloir and devoir which are French regular verbs. In English, we use can to mean to know how to do something. In these cases, the French will use savoir and to say w.
