ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the specificities of service and their implications in terms of services’ marketing and design. The chapter also explores how strategies need to take on board the specific dynamics of services while appreciating the evolution towards a comprehensive management of services through the service design perspective. In addition, the chapter introduces a number of case scenarios that demonstrate the intricacies of tourism service provision and illustrates the various competencies necessary to provide a quality service.
