ABSTRACT

This chapter describes Individual Information simulation. This type of simulation calls for participants to individually analyze information and make recommendations or decisions. The chapter provides specific steps relevant the construction of specific types of simulations. The initial steps in the construction of Individual Information simulations involve defining the goals of the simulation, which includes specifying the desired outcomes and the purpose of the simulation, and then stating specifications for the context and design features of the simulation. In a Case Study simulation, the individual participant reads a complex set of materials and writes a written report and/or makes an oral presentation. A variety of problems can be portrayed in a case study simulation, which should appropriately align with the elements of the target job. An integral part of the development of a case study is the preparation of an initial set of supporting materials for the assessors.
