ABSTRACT

The social and cultural meanings of Traditional Chinese Medicine asdrawn from participants’ contributions uncover the human dimension of Traditional Chinese culture: the love of life focusing on this present world, the care of self in preserving health, the commitment to filial piety by showing reverence to parents and seniors, caring for the young, admitting co-existence while permitting differences in the harmonious and complementary relationships, trust and respect in social relations, and through the nondualistic belief of equality in Yin and Yang philosophy that permeate our lives. These humanistic core values have upheld the integrity of Chinese

culture and cement social interactions, and their application can have a positive impact in this modern world.
