ABSTRACT
Today (31st July 2003) is a sad day. It is when my friend and mentor, Joe McGinness, will be cremated. Joe died on NAIDOC (National Aborigines’ and Islanders’ Day Observance Committee) Day
in Cairns.
Joseph Daniel ‘Pumeri’ McGinness was truly a remarkable and
honourable Aboriginal man and we will miss him. Working for the
rights of Aboriginal and Torres Strait people has been his whole life.
