ABSTRACT

One of the women’s requests to Lisa Harvey, the State Minister for Health, was to consider having a competent local woman on the hospital board as a priority. Well, things were going in a different direction for Queensland public sector health services and in 1990 the Queensland Department of Health produced a green paper to give information to the community about a proposal for change. The government was considering making hospital boards redundant, amongst other things, and the green paper was really a discussion paper directed by the government purely for discussion by the people. The State Health Minister was then Ken McElligott MLA.
