ABSTRACT
After completing this chapter, the reader should be able to:
briefly outline the pathophysiology of the cardiac conditions of heart failure and dysrhythmias;
identify the major drug groups used in the treatment of these conditions;
state the mechanisms of action of the major drug groups used to treat these conditions;
demonstrate a knowledge of the adverse reactions associated with each drug group and how they derive from the mechanism of action.
